Oulton Park BRSCC Northern Season Opener
27th March 2018
Busy couple of days at the weekend. Testing went well at Silverstone on Friday, but mixed emotions from Oulton Park Saturday.
I took my first ever Pole Position in changing conditions during Qualifying.
Race 1: A mediocre start meant I slipped back to 2nd going into turn 1. I caught up the driver in front very quickly, my pace was great and the car felt awesome, we definitely had the quicker package on this occasion. Unfortunately in a effort to pass for the lead a manoeuvre from the other competitor lead to us both crashing out, he was later disqualified. The car was a wreck and it was clear that there was no way we were going to make it back out for race 2. So unfortunately that was the end of our weekend.
Apart from the expense caused, it was disappointing, I stood a very strong chance of picking up my first win in cars. That’ll have to wait till another day for now, but we have the speed and are very close to making it a reality. Many positives to take away and ultimately I’m very pleased with my first pole position.
We’ll be back at Silverstone this Easter weekend where the first round of the British Nationals takes place. Really looking forward to that!
Big thank you as always to Kevin Mills Racing for a fantastic setup!
