Castle Combe Round 3

May 30th 2017

A tough one yesterday at Castle Combe. It was a dry Qualifying, I was still getting comfortable with the new car but we finished up 6th.

Soon after the heavens opened and the track took a very heavy downpour of rain which lasted right through our race. This is the first proper wet running I'd done, we had a decent start and by the end of the first lap we were in 3rd. Visibility was awful, and unfortunately my lack of experience and desire to do well ultimately put me in the wall. Left feeling frustrated but ready to move on to the next event.

What I can't put into words is how much work Kevin and the team have done for me the past couple of weeks. My 2010 Spectrum chassis arrived from Australia just over two weeks ago. The amount of worked needed to have it up and running in time was massive. I saw the car soon after it arrived and it was a shell, needing a ton of work, I had accepted it wasn't going to be ready in time. Somehow though Kevin, Ali and Alex got it finished, their level of commitment has been truly amazing! So a huge thank you guys!

Still changing the odd things here and there while I get comfortable with the car, which you would expect since it was built from scratch. But now I'm able to drive the same car each time out, and set it up for me, it's definitely the way forward.

A massive thank you as always Kevin, my mechanic Alex, Alastair, Shane, Greg, David, Thomas and Emily for the weekend!

I'd like to take this opportunity to say a huge thank you to Signs Express (Southampton) for the stickers on the car this weekend, I'm really looking forward to working with you this season.

Everyone keep an eye out for a more vibrant design coming in a couple of weeks time! 😎 Website: https://www.signsexpress.co.uk/branch/southampton

Also a big thank you to Brilliant Embroidery for producing me some great badges in aid of Cancer Research UK. Website: http://www.brilliantembroidery.co.uk

Jim Robertson for the great pics as always!

On to the next round this weekend at Knockhill in Scotland for rounds 6,7 and 8 of the BRSCC Nationals.
