Castle Combe National Rounds 13, 14 & 15

28th July 2018

Another really good weekend in the Nationals at Castle Combe!

Quali - Another very close qualifying session, went provisional pole twice but was very happy to end up P3, finishing a tenth of a second off.

Race 1 - Stayed P3 throughout the first race, made an attempt to get into second but just couldn’t quite get the move done. Another podium finish, so was very happy. The top 3 of us separated by half a second across the finish line.

Race 2 - I lost a position into turn 1, but found myself back in third a few laps later. Our pace was fantastic towards the end, I made a move for 2nd on the final lap around the outside of turn 1. Unfortunately contact to the rear of the car, spun me round and onto the grass. Thankfully we were quite far down the road, I managed to get restarted and rejoin back on track to finish 6th. A little disappointing but could have been a whole lot worse.

Race 3 - Due to the reverse grid we would start P3 once again. I methodically worked my way to the front and was in the lead by the third lap. The car was quick, but not as quick as the car behind. I decided not to fight the challenge from behind too hard, and after a few laps, I fell to 2nd, but hoped our pace would be better nearer the end of the race to mount a challenge for the lead. It was, and in the closing laps I drew back up to the leader setting the fastest lap of the race in the process. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough, I ended up finishing 2nd by 0.4 of a second.

I keep saying it, but we are getting closer and closer to the win!

Another really good weekend for the championship, still 2nd in the Nationals.

A big thank you to:
