BRSCC National Rounds 20, 21 & 22
29th September 2017
Last weekend at Anglesey Circuit marked the final round of the British Championship for 2017.
It’s been a tough but incredibly valuable season for myself, we finished 9th in the standings, my debut year.
Amazingly last weekend was the first wet weekend we’ve had while racing all year, and I finally got to test in some pretty tricky condition.
Qualifying was mostly dry with the track evolving a little as the session went on. As always getting a perfect lap in wasn’t easy with traffic, but we managed a 3rd row start in 6th.
Race 1 was dry, the track had changed a lot since quali and I wasn’t too comfortable with the car, but finished a solid 8th.
Race 2 on Sunday was extremely wet, the worst conditions I’ve driven in, the spray was phenomenal and at times I couldn’t even see the rain lights in front of me. Frustratingly I came off on lap 1 trying to avoid someone else’s crash in front. I rejoined in 22nd and eventually finished 13th.
Race 3 was wet again, but conditions were better and I made my way up the order to eventually finish 7th. The level of competition was tough, the story of the season, but I’ve been very grateful of it. To put it in perspective the Championship winner finished just behind me in the last race, it’s very close on track.
A huge thank you to Kevin, my mechanic Alex, Ali and Shirley!
Now three races to go until the end of the year. Next the final round of Castle Combe/The Carnival. Followed closely by the Formula Ford Festival at Brands Hatch and the Walter Hayes Trophy at Silverstone.
Very much looking forward to all three of those!
