SMRC Knockhill Club Round
15th May 2018
I traveled up a week early for the club meeting prior to the Nationals at Knockhill, the circuit was being run in reverse for both weekends, not a configuration we were used to. This gave us a good chance to acclimatise and setup.
Mostly it went reasonably well for us, there was a decent number of drivers who were running in the nationals which gave us a good basis for where we could place the following weekend.
I qualified P6, and although we only moved up to 4th in Race 1, it was a pretty eventful hard fought race between us all at the front. I was also 2nd quickest on track which gave me confidence going forward.
Unfortunately race 2 was not so good, and much more scrappy. I found myself losing out at the start and dropped behind two slower cars. I spent the majority of the race trying to pass, eventually regaining my 4th position, until the red flag was brought out later that lap, which meant the position reverted to the previous lap charted, resulting in a 6th.
So overall it wasn’t a terrible weekend, but things could certainly have gone better for me.
