MICHAEL EASTWELL TO REPRESENT THE CHAMPION OF BRANDS ON ROAD TO INDY
13th November, Silverstone, England: An unbeaten run of four Champion of Brands races at Brands Hatch this season, has resulted in Michael Eastwell winning the MotorSport Vision Racing and James Beckett Motorsport administered 'SuperSeries Shootout' nomination to travel to the United States next month and contest the Mazda Road to Indy Scholarship Finals.
Eastwell attended iZONE Driver Performance at Silverstone today to undertake a day of evaluation and assessment before being formally announced as the recipient of the coveted award - a title held previously by Oliver White (2016) and Jamie Thorburn (2017).
Eastwell started a run of four unbeaten MSVR Champion of Brands races in August, when he scored two victories on the Brands Hatch Indy Circuit - including the claiming of the prestigious Bert Ray Memorial Trophy. Last weekend, the Kevin Mills Racing driver returned to Brands Hatch to win two further races in the final Champion of Brands event of the season.
Michael Eastwell commented, "I would like to thank James Beckett and MSVR for such a tremendous opportunity. My goal this season was to achieve a place in the shootout, and I am elated to have done just that! I would also like to extend my thanks to the Kevin Mills Racing team, I’ve had an amazing car all season and today it has enabled me to reach my objective! Finally, I just want to say a massive thank you to my Mum and Dad and to family and friends! Still a lot of work to do, but your continued support means the world to me!"
Continuing, "I had a fantastic day at iZONE Driver Performance at Silverstone, with thanks in particular to Neil Riddiford, and the day has given me a great insight into what the weekend in America could entail. Naturally, I am extremely excited about the coming weeks. This is an opportunity of a lifetime, and I am determined to make sure I am well prepared and ready to hit the ground running when I arrive at the Bondurant Racing School in just over three weeks time."
James Beckett, organiser of the Champion of Brands Formula Ford 1600 series, says, "Michael is a deserving winner of this nomination and will now travel to the United States and contest the Mazda Road to Indy Scholarship Finals."
Adding, "Throughout the season Michael has displayed a determination and ability to win combined with a professional approach. These are fine qualities, and I have no doubt Michael will be a force to be reckoned with in the Mazda Road to Indy competition. Michael is a talented driver, and deserves to experience a successful career."
