Debut F2000 Race Weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park

September 19th 2018

A really great way for me to make my American racing car debut with a double podium finish! πŸ†πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ First weekend in the F2000 car with Tumenas Motorsport.

A 3rd & a 2nd, Pole Position and the Fastest Official Lap Time run all weekend.

A big learning curve, but some very promising results!

Official Practice- We went quickest on Saturday morning, posting what would end up being the fastest time set all weekend.

Qualifying 1 - Not quite the session we had hoped for. After being quickest in practice, the track ultimately changed and the car went away from us. P4 was the best we could manage.

Race 1 - My first rolling start in cars went pretty well, we moved up a spot within a couple of laps and held the position to the end of the race. Was really pleased to take a 3rd place finish in my debut race!

Qualifying 2 - We went straight into the second round of Qualifying on Sunday morning and managed to finish up on Pole Position. It was extremely close though, with the top four cars separated by 0.083 of a second.

Race 2 - Another really good start, but unfortunately couldn’t quite hold onto the lead. We really struggled for grip in the opening five laps, but soon after, the car came alive and we had really good pace. The leader had broken away, but we continued to take time out of him in the second half of the race. We missed out on the fastest lap by 0.04 of a second. Really enjoyed the longer 30 minute races. Overall really can’t be too disappointed with the end result given my inexperience in the category. Some really solid results for us to come away with. 😁

Can’t thank the Tumenas Motorsports Team enough, Lenny, Tania, Barry and of course Peter! To George & Alex Vorrilas at Apex Kart Sports for all their tremendous support! Also a big thank you to the IMG team, really great to meet you guys, to race with you and for sharing you’re hospitality with us! Finally a massive congratulations to Tumenas Motorsports driver Steve Jenks who sealed the title on the Saturday!

Really nice for my parents to be able to make the journey out, it was almost exactly two years ago, last weekend, that my mum and dad came over to watch me try and win the F-Series at the New Jersey Motorsports Kart Track. Unfortunately they couldn’t eventually make it, as my Mum was extremely ill in hospital. Glad we could all enjoy the good results and the weekend together this time around at New Jersey Motorsports Race Track.

Thank you everyone for you’re continued support!! It’s really appreciated! πŸ™πŸ»
